5seven5.com is holding up well on Day Two of its existence as the foremost (and only) social network for haiku poets. More than 75% of the haiku are metacommentary on the site itself. That's not ideal, but I suppose it was inevitable that this would be the case in the beginning. I've made one a policy decision regarding the content: no dirty words. Too easy in such a short form; they don't add enough to justify their weight. Sorry, revsaintmichael (no, he has not made an appearance yet). The site is, of course, thoroughly overengineered and could play host to roughly a million haiku poets before it experienced significant growing pains. So far we have sixteen. Hey, it's a start. Users have pointed out a number of areas for improvement, but most of those issues would be greatly ameliorated by the participation of more people. Start countin' yer syllables!
